free verse from "Aleutian Sparrow"

In Kashega, baseball is different.
rock, driftwood, and sand make the playing field.
Here, baseball is modernized.
Here, life is different.
Powered eggs, overbearing flora, and makeshift homes
are everyday life.
Life used to be simple.
Friends, rituals, elders.
Now, that is gone.
Americans, our own people, have taken over what used to be.
Ruined it.
What used to be
Will be no more.
